The Italian Alps are distinct from the French peaks to the west, the Austrian and Swiss mountains to the north and the Dolomites to the east. The region around Bormio holds three of European cycling’s giant passes: the Mortirolo, the Gavia and the biggest of them all, the Stelvio. At a whopping 2,757 metres above sea level, this is Italy’s highest paved pass, and second only to the Col de la Bonette in the whole alpine massif.
The GF Stelvio Santini offers two of these monsters, giving the finisher some serious bragging ability upon his or her return to humanity. The route starts quick with a long descent to the "warm up" climb of the Teglio before tackling the hardest route up the Mortirolo. Anyone remaining in the group needs to then work together on the long drag back up to Bormio and then it's everyone for themselves up the Stelvio.
A chance to climb the Stelvio and Mortirolo in one epic ride! An international peloton but very Italian at the front. Take on some of the most famous climbs in cycling with ex pro riders setting your pace.
